Movies that girls can't shut up about

There's two movies that American girls can't shut up about, and two men they will forever (openly) fantasize about: 'Dirty Dancing' (with Patrick Swayze) and Labyrinth (with the dude with the crazy hair).

Doesn't matter how sexy or masculine you are as a man, you'll still NEVER be as sexy as Patrick Swayze in dirty dancing, or as sexy as David Bowie in Labyrinth. And yes, you will have to hear about it, repeatedly. It's just part of life so get used to it.

I told Hui about this. She'd never seen either of these, so first I laughed at her. Then tonight we started with 'Dirty Dancing'. See, I'm a guy that can handle having my girl know there's sexier guys out there, and amazing fantasies to have. After all, I'm the guy she'll be with at the moment she accidentally screams out something like, "Oh Mr. BOWIE!!!". I am comfortable enough to handle that.

More importantly, I don't want her to miss out on a CLASSIC!

Last week, we saw 'Citizen Kane' which had a 100% approval rating from 'Rotten Tomatoes' which aggregates movie reviews from the most widely known critics in the world. i.e. the likes of Siskel and Ebert. I refuse to say 'Siskel and Ropert', because... who the hell is Ropert? I grew up with Ebert, thank you very much. Well Citizen Kane had a 100% review rating, and the movie totally sucked balls. It represents what's wrong with artsy movies, as do directors like Stanley Kubrick. We recently saw this movie called, 'Sleeping Beauty', and it also sucked balls, and I was convinced I'd see 'Stanly Kubrick' in the credits, so I watched the credits and finally googled it. Don't watch either of these movies expecting that they'll get good later, they don't. 'Sleeping Beauty' had a 50% rating, when it should have been something TERRIBLE like a 10%.

From now on, I'm just going to watch movies according to what girls consider to be unforgettable and just can't shut up about... and what results in endless fantasies or upset men that can't get why women are endlessly fantasizing about "some dude from a movie".

So tomorrow, we're going to watch Labyrinth with David Bowie!

By the way. I really liked Dirty Dancing. What struck me most was the class struggle of the time, and the touching connection which developed where an upper class helped out a lower class because we're all human, and classes don't matter anyway. My god, I was nearly emasculated by a show of tears.

So if you haven't seen Dirty Dancing lately, go see it.

And when you do, watch it with your girl. And then pause the movie half way through, just like I did, so that you can dance to "In the Still of the Night". Yeah, I did that. I gotta compete, what can I say? I need to know that at least SOME of the time, she's actually fantasizing about ME!
